New Template for Residential Clothes Washers to Reflect the Upcoming Revision to Test Procedures and Standards Effective March 1, 2028

Effective March 1, 2028, a new test procedure and performance standards go into effect for residential clothes washers.  The upcoming test procedure can be found at 10 CFR Appendix J to Subpart B of Part 430 and the upcoming standards can be found at 10 CFR §430.32(g)(2). 

Although submission based on this upcoming test procedure and standards is not required until March 1, 2028, some submitters have expressed a desire to begin submitting prior to that date.  Therefore, a new Residential Clothes Washers, Appendix J – v5.0 template has been posted on the CCMS web site.

Submitters may, but are not required to, begin using these templates effective immediately.  Prior to March 1, 2028, submitters may submit on either or both of a) the current version of the template which is based on the test procedure in Appendix J2 and the currently prevailing standards and/or b) the “Appendix J” template.  However, all submissions using the “Appendix J” template will be assessed based on the Appendix J test procedure and the March 1, 2028 standards.
