Commercial Warm Air Furnaces and Package Terminal Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps

Commercial Warm Air Furnaces and Package Terminal Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps

Effective July 1, 2014, manufacturers and importers of Commercial Warm Air Furnaces and Package Terminal Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps must submit certification reports pursuant to the requirements found in Subpart B of 10 CFR Part 429. As part of certification of compliance, the submitter has the opportunity to provide DOE with supplemental testing instructions in PDF format with their submission for these two equipment types.

Specific rules for formatting the PDF file:

  • The file may contain supplemental testing instructions for more than one basic model.  If so, please clearly indicate which basic model(s) to which each set of instructions relates.
  • The file should be kept as small as possible; the file can be no larger than 20 MB.

Before submitting supplemental testing instructions, you must:

  • Obtain a unique manufacturer’s code by contacting .  This code will be in the form of “DOExxxx” where “xxxx” is a four digit number.  Once DOE has created the code, it will be available online at the CCMS site.  A separate, unique code is required for each manufacturer that wants to submit supplemental testing instructions.
  • Use this unique code at the beginning of the PDF file name.  This code must be the first seven characters of the name of your PDF file that contains the supplemental testing instructions; the remaining part of the file name may consist of any characters you want, but you must use a unique file name for each different file.  Submissions that do not conform to these requirements will not be considered valid submissions.

To submit your supplemental testing instructions, you must:

  • In the appropriate column on the certification template, provide the complete name of the PDF file containing the supplemental testing instructions.
  • Completed templates that contain your certification reports and PDF files that contain your supplemental testing instructions should be submitted in separate tickets in CCMS.  Completed templates containing certification reports should be submitted with a “correspondence record type” of “Compliance/Certification Report Submission”, while PDF files containing the supplemental testing instructions should be submitted with a “correspondence record type” of “Supplemental Testing Instructions”.
  • The completed template containing your certification reports and the PDF file containing supplemental testing instructions file do not have to be submitted at the same time, but your submission will not be considered complete until both have been submitted.
