About the Tax Credit Product Lookup Tool

Contractors and plumbers can use this tool to determine if an appliance meets certain eligibility criteria for the Federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement tax credit. The tool produces a results page that can be saved for future reference.
CEE’s Tiers serve as one of the criteria used to determine eligibility for certain equipment under the Federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement tax credit.
What a result means
A search returns one of three outcomes.
- Exact match. The model number was submitted for that year as meeting the applicable CEE Tier. The results page shows it as an exact match and offers a certificate to download. That page is the only place the certificate is available.
- Partial match. The closest model numbers are listed instead, each with a similarity score. A partial match carries no certificate.
- No match. The model number was not found in the data submitted for that year. Check the other year before concluding that it is absent.
The data is a fixed set of submissions and is not being updated. It cannot be listed or browsed; every search needs a model number or an AHRI number.
Searching by model number
A search needs the installation year, the brand, and the model number as it appears on the appliance’s rating plate. The years covered are 2024 and 2025.
Start with an exact search. If it returns no match, try a partial search. Some model numbers were submitted as patterns that cover a family of variants, where an asterisk stands in for the characters that vary between variants, such as colour, voltage, or distributor code. A full model number read from the rating plate may not match such a record exactly.
A partial search scores the whole model number for similarity. It does not match on a prefix, and low-scoring records are not returned at all. Search on the fullest model number available rather than a shortened one.
Where a product carries an AHRI Certified Reference Number, the AHRI Number
parameter can be used instead of the model numbers. For multi-split systems it is the most
reliable way to identify a rated combination.
Link to a result
Every result has its own web address, which can be opened directly in a browser. Opening it shows whether the model is an exact or a partial match, and an exact match carries the certificate that can be downloaded there.
