# DOE Product Look Up Tool > Check a specific heating, cooling, or water heating product model against the > highest CEE efficiency tier for a given specification year, using certification > data submitted to the U.S. Department of Energy by manufacturers. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (P.L. 119-21), enacted on July 4, 2025, revised dates and provisions in the Internal Revenue Code that affect some or all of the tax credits described below. Contractors and plumbers can use this tool to determine if an appliance meets certain eligibility criteria for the Federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement tax credit. The tool produces a results page that can be saved for future reference. CEE’s Tiers serve as one of the criteria used to determine eligibility for certain equipment under the Federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement tax credit. Specification years offered are 2024 and 2025. There is no way to list the catalog. Every query needs a model number or an AHRI number. ## Query API Machine-readable lookup: https://www.regulations.doe.gov/product-lookup/api/lookup Called with no parameters it returns the full query contract as JSON. Called with a query it returns the matching records, each tagged "exact" or "partial". An exact match also carries a certificate URL. Prefer this over the HTML results pages, which are noindex by design and state the match type only in prose. Rules: - "CEE Specification Effective Year" is required, and is 2024 or 2025. - "Category" is required. Use the token listed against each page below; the specification year is appended for you. - "Type" is exact or partial, and defaults to exact. - For 2024 heat pumps, "State" is North or South. - A search matches on a model number. Omit one and the result is empty. - There is no way to list the whole catalog. Every query needs a model number. ## Behaviour the parameter list does not show 1. Partial is a similarity score against the whole model string, not a prefix or a substring test, and low scores are not returned at all. A truncated model number can return nothing even though the full number matches. Send the fullest model number you have rather than a truncation. 2. An empty exact result is retried for you. When a query returns nothing, the response may carry a "suggestions" array. Each entry has a "reason", a "matchCount" and a "url" that reproduces the search that would have worked. Two retries are offered: the same specification year as a partial match, and the other specification year. 3. A model filed under the other specification year is common. Check "suggestions" before reporting that a model is absent. 4. Multi-split records are filed as wildcard model patterns, so the AHRI number is the more reliable key for that category. ## Example queries One per category, in the shape that returns a single exact match.
